Beauty Sleep for beautiful and glowing skin

Skin makes new cells twice as fast during sleep time as during walking hours. Several studies have found that sleep deprived humans have lower levels of a growth hormone the skin needs to repair environmental damage and produce new skin cells. When skin cell replacement falls behind then wrinkles and slackness results. While individual sleep requirements vary between 7 and 9 hours is average. As you get your beauty rest, avoid creating bed wrinkles by sleeping on your back. Lying on your side or stomach means squashing your face into a pillow and then walking up with crazy crease marks. When we are young these folds smooth out almost instantly. But as we age our collagen and elastin grow less resilient meaning those creases can stay for hours or even permanently.
Skin care tips and facial youthfulness - free information
Good skin care is essential for a youthful looking skin and face, and your facial "health" depends on it, as much as you need collagen and elastin for a smooth skin you also need adequate moisture in your skin. Men and women must both not only take care of their skin to remain younger looking, but also to ensure the continued health of their skin. A good skin care regimen need not take hours every day, but must be attended to every day, without fail.
We are born with a perfect, smooth skin, free of wrinkles, marks, scars, blemishes etc. But if you have a total disregard for skin care and follow a non-caring lifestyle, you will place extra wear and tear on your skin and in so doing, cause stress to the skin, which will result in a tired, unhealthy and wrinkly looking skin. Without the proper care, not only will wrinkles form, but you will have a blotchy and un-toned complexion, and more chance for the skin to bag and sag. To keep wrinkles and lines in check, you need to look after the following constituents of your skin:
Collagen Elastin Fibroblast cells Connective tissues
Youthful anti-aging wrinkle-free skin can be achieved with consistent care. Nourishing the dermis and epidermis will assist with the elasticity of the skin, and will promote an anti-ageing, wrinkle-free ageless skin. Skin care - the steps Working towards an anti-aging, wrinkle-free skin, can easily be achieved with proper reference to:
Skin care Facial exercises Nutrition Anti-ageing lifestyle Skin care A good skin care regime would include the following: cleaning toning moisturizing sun protection skin treatments
Although the above will assist in giving you a younger looking skin, it must be kept in mind that the regimen must be followed every day - that is - not skipping any day or not doing it when coming in too late or too tired. Good skincare is important, but good nutrition is also required for a healthy ageless, smooth and wrinkle-free skin. Supplying the body with the needed vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins and fats, in a healthy non-toxic diet, will greatly improve the odds at fighting wrinkles and lines.
General
We are all born with a great skin, but years of neglect and bad habits are the starting points to an aged skin. That is a skin that looks blotchy, full of wrinkles, sagging skin, and lacking in skin tone and vitality. It has been proven that good skincare can retard and help rejuvenate old tired looking skin. Makeup is useful, but can never replace essentially healthy skin, which glows with vitality. There are many different types of skincare products and regimens on the market, but we have found the herbal way to be the very effective, as herbal compounds offers all the miracles of nature while not using strong chemicals and preservatives. The skin is a wonderful barometer of our health, and although good skincare will go a far way in helping us preserve youth and vitality, we also need to look after the body to achieve this anti-ageing look. For this reason, a healthy lifestyle is also required to maintain that youthful look. Some very aging habits are: Excessive sun tanning No skin care, or bad skin care Not drinking enough water Consuming too much alcohol Repeated fad diets Smoking Junk food (or too rich foods, or no food) Too much caffeine Too little exercise Too little rest and sleep etc. etc. ..........… does any of this sound vaguely familiar? The skin starts aging when the cells die off faster than the body can replace them. Sickness, stress, anxiety and depression also add to the aging of the skin. To help fight these modern day ills, have a look at aiding your body with alternative herbal remedies. A good diet (nutritional plan), with sufficient vitamins, as well as proteins are also needed to maintain the elasticity of the skin. The body must function properly to get rid of waste products effectively, in order to keep the body, and also the skin in particular, looking its best. An excellent herbal product to assist in cleaning and detoxifying the body, as well as assisting to fight constipation, and keeping you regular is our herbal digestive health capsules. While wrinkles form easier on dry skin, hereditary factors also add insult to injury – therefore a healthy vital skin is only achieved when a couple of factors are in sync, but a skin can never look its best without proper skincare.
Facts about your skin
The skin is the largest organ of the human body and protects the body from injury, infection, dehydration and harmful ultra-violet rays.
The skin consists of two main layers:
an outer layer (epidermis) an inner layer (dermis)
There is a constant action of cells dying and cells regenerating in the skin. The more nutrients the cells receive at this stage from an outside source, the longer the cells will take to degenerate, the more youthful your appearance will be. This is why the skin needs a deeply penetrating moisturizer to nourish the cells where they divide and form. The skin should be exfoliated at regular intervals to help remove dead skin cells from the surface in order for your skin to have that radiant look. An effective moisturizer will assist nature to keep your skin hydrated and can help stimulate new cell growth. The dermis gives the skin its elasticity and strength, but it also needs to be protected from the sun and other environmental elements. The loss of elasticity of the dermis is a feature of aging, characterized by sagging and wrinkling of the skin and here facial exercise can be greatly beneficial to help tone the muscles. They do not "build" muscles like a regular gym session, but rather firm them.
Cleansing
All good skincare regimens begins with proper cleansing. This removes the dirty surface film that the skin picks up from our surroundings, and the more polluted the surroundings, the better the cleansing needs to be. A good thorough cleansing is absolutely necessary for healthy skin. To clean the skin, its best to select a gentle hypoallergenic, pH-balanced cream, lotion or soap, designed to help dissolve surface dirt and any makeup. To remove the buildup of normal dead cells, it is beneficial to regularly exfoliate the skin, with a gentle scrub.
Moisturizing
The single disadvantage of cleansing your skin is the simultaneous removal of beneficial oils on your skin. These oils help retain precious moisture and form a barrier between the polluted environment and yourself. This drawback is easily neutralized by using a good moisturizer. Two types of moisturizers are required: A lightweight thin moisturizer for use during the day and underneath makeup A heavier more nutritious cream for night-time care. When applying, dab onto fingers and gently massage it in with a slow circular motion until absorbed.
Protection
The final step for good skin care is protecting ourselves from the environment. The sun emits dangerous ultra-violet rays, which can cause lasting damage to your skin and can cause health problems like skin cancer with continuous exposure. Whenever outside, even on cloudy or overcast days, use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF15. If you are unsure of the SPF number, check the container.
Treatments
At times of injury, burns, cuts, allergic skin reactions, eczema, etc. the skin needs extra care to cope with the demands placed on it. At this time, specialized skin treatment creams and lotions might be needed, like our absolutely wonderful Herbal Healing Cream. In other cases, as in the rupture of connective tissue, leading to stretch marks you could look at a specialized gel, like our Herbal Stretch Mark Gel. For specific problems, like baggy puffy eyes, you could also look at a product like our herbal treatment Herbal Eye Gel. Should you however experience a medical problem, kindly contact a licensed medical practitioner.
Skin care - skin types

Oily skin
Oily skin is prone to congestion. This often results in spots and blackheads. In this instance, hygiene of the skin is of prime importance. Cleaning plays a major role and for this look at our Herbal Face Bar or Herbal Face Wash.
Dry skin When skin is exposed to too much sun or to the effects of central climate control, a dry complexion becomes more easily wrinkled than oily skin. A dry skin therefore needs to be moisturized thoroughly and regularly. Dry skin often tends to be sensitive, therefore Chamomile, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera as well as Soy are indicated, which are all rich and nourishing and are valuable hydrating agents. All these products are present in our Herbal Nourishing Night Cream. Jojoba oil has also proven of great help with dry skin.
Mature skin
Aging is inevitable, but the effects can be contained to a large degree by following an anti-aging life-style, and assisting your skin to look its best, by means of proper cleaning, moisturizing and taking care of it during times of "stress", such as injury or ill health. Deep penetrating Aloe Vera, which actually "puffs-up" the cells, can also be greatly beneficial. Any of our skincare products will assist with this, as our products contain high amounts of pure Aloe Vera Gel, and necessary oils, in a non-greasy formula.
Problem skin
Because the skin is dependant on the body, it is of utmost importance to get rid of any toxic build-up in the body on a regular basis.
Acne
Acne occurs when the oil producing glands of the skin get inflamed, which results in skin eruptions - from mild blackheads and pimples to infectious cysts. The skin is colonized by millions of bacteria. In general these do no harm, although some less wholesome bacteria can be present on the skin. If these manage to penetrate through a cut or crack they can infect a wound and may form an abscess.
These bacteria can also result in the formation of spots, or more serious acne, where the glands are infected and enlarged, partly due to the blockage of the follicles in which the glands are situated. In teenagers, this can be caused by massive surges in hormones. Too much alcohol may also play a part and some medical drugs can also be to blame.
Microscopic fungi that use dead cells and skin secretions as food also cause infestations of the outer skin. These fungal infections are not usually harmful, although they can cause intense irritation and damage to the skin's appearance. They must however be treated, as complications could result. For this you can have a look at our Herbal Healing Cream. Eczema Problems such as eczema and dermatitis are both skin diseases often caused by allergic body responses. They may also be due to the irritant effect of chemicals that cause direct damage. Many allergens, ranging from washing powders to jewelry, or even make-up can be responsible. Constituents of connective tissue with ageing
Phase 1 00 - 15 years
In a baby, the fibroblast is programmed to produce only structural glyco-proteins and mucopolysaccharids. These 2 building elements give the skin its softness and suppleness, allowing the rapid growth of the baby.
Phase 2 15 - 25 years Elastin and collagen, which are the tightening agents, are only produced later on, in order to leave the skin supple to accommodate the baby's growth (should they be produced earlier, the skin would "break" as what happens when stretch marks appear). A sharp increase in elastin production occurs from 15 to 25 years of age when the body reaches it full maturity.
Phase 3 30 - 45 years
After 30 years of age, a decreased production of elastin occurs and this decrease can be accelerated by sun exposure and particularly UVA, which destroys elastic fibers. One should avoid sun exposure from that age and also before, to prevent any further damage. Sun exposure should really be limited your entire life to prevent premature ageing.
Phase 4 45 - 65 years
From the age of 45, the constitutive elements of the connective tissue are produced in very low quantities.
